For a righteous man falls seven times and rises again, but the wicked are overthrown by calamity. [Job 5:19; Ps. 34:19; 37:24; Mic. 7:8.] (Proverbs 24:16 AMPC)

  • This is a brilliant verse
  • It’s somewhat ironic that Solomon is writing this. He knows quite a bit about falling and failing. But it is nonetheless true.
  • It goes to show us that when and if you fall, don’t stay down. Life is hard. Temptations get the best of us sometimes. Life is a struggle and our flesh is weak. But that’s no excuse to fail, nor is it an excuse to stay down when you do.
  • Think of Job. He fell, but came back up. Think of Jonah, he went off course and came back on track. Think of Joseph, he fell and came back up. Think of Moses, he fell and then came back up!
  • The message here is that you are never too far off for God to not rescue you. You are never too deep or lost that God cannot remove you from that mess. You are never too broken for God not to piece you back together. There is nothing too big for God. What is impossible with man is possible with God!
  • If you are born again, you are the righteousness of God in Christ. And the steps of a righteous man are ordered by the Lord. And God protects his own. So keep in mind that God is always with you, even if you fall. He can always pick you up.
  • It’s better to fall while walking than to fall whilst standing. It’s better to fall while trying to do what’s right than falling with an idle mind.

End.
